What is the Best Printer, Copier or Fax to buy?The Inside Story. Many customers want to know, which is the best printer, copier or fax machine to buy. The answer really depends on what the customer wants from the equipment. While some brands do hold up better and are easier to service, all brands have their issues from time to time. Some are considered workhorses and others are almost toys. I have personally serviced thousands of copiers, printers, and fax machines, and I can tell you, all office machines are not created equal. For example, if you only need to make occasional copies totaling less than 500 to 1000 pages per month, then you might be suited for a personal or entry level type machine. These are generally small, desktop units capable of quality output, but many are designed for a low volume of pages and some are not designed for office environments where a hundred pages per day or more are being produced. Prices are generally low for the these machines, but they also have a higher cost per page for the supplies in the long run. So, don't forget the cost of toner and ink for any machine you consider. Major manufacturers are almost giving away these smaller machines, in hopes of earning your money through the higher cost toner cartridges. So when choosing a machine, try to pick one that's built for a little harder use than you intend, rather than a lesser machine that may give out from the unexpected workload. Bells and whistles are great, but it's what's inside that counts. Some manufacturers put a little more "backbone" into their products. Samsung is one such manufacturer. For many years they've been quietly building the copier, printer and fax "engines" for various big name companies such as Xerox, Ricoh, and Toshiba. They are now offering a complete line of office equipment for small and large offices, under the Samsung brand. We have scrutinized them inside and out, and found them to be solid products. |
